Solitaire
Klondike card game, draw 1 or 3

About the Solitaire
The classic Klondike Solitaire (also called Patience), the card game that shipped with Windows. Build the four foundations from Ace to King in each suit by moving cards between the seven tableau piles, where cards stack in descending order with alternating colours. Choose Draw 1 for a relaxed game or Draw 3 for the classic challenge. Drag cards, or just tap one and it jumps to the best place. Undo as often as you like, and once every card is face up, Auto finish plays the rest for you. Your game is saved if you leave, and your best time is kept.
- Choose Draw 1 or Draw 3.
- Drag or tap cards to build tableau piles down in alternating colours; tap the deck to draw.
- Move every card to the foundations, Ace to King by suit, to win.
Strategy that wins more games
Turn over face-down tableau cards whenever you can, since they hide the cards you need. Prefer moves from the tableau over moves from the deck, don't empty a column unless you have a King ready to fill it, and don't rush cards to the foundations if you might need them to hold a lower card of the other colour.
Draw 1 vs Draw 3
Draw 1 lets you see every card in the deck on each pass, so most deals are winnable. Draw 3 only gives you every third card until the cards above it are played, which is why it is the tougher, classic way to play.
Frequently asked
How do you play Solitaire?
Move all 52 cards to the four foundation piles, each built up by suit from Ace to King. In the seven tableau columns you can stack cards in descending order with alternating colours (a red 6 on a black 7), and only a King can go into an empty column.
What is the difference between Draw 1 and Draw 3?
In Draw 1 you turn over one card from the deck at a time, which makes most games winnable. In Draw 3 you turn three and can only play the top one, which is the harder classic version.
Is every Solitaire game winnable?
No. Around 80% of Draw 1 deals can be won with perfect play, and fewer in Draw 3. If you're stuck, use Undo to try a different line or start a new deal.
Can I undo moves?
Yes, as many as you like, with the Undo button or the Z key.
Is Solitaire free to play?
Yes. It's free with no download, no sign-up and no in-app purchases. It works on phones, tablets and computers.
Is my best score saved?
Where the game has a high score, it is saved in your browser on this device.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
