About the Password Generator

Weak and reused passwords are the most common way accounts get hacked. This generator creates strong passwords and memorable passphrases using your browser's cryptographically secure random generator. Nothing is sent over the network or stored, so the passwords are only ever on your screen.

  1. Choose Password or Passphrase.
  2. Set the length and pick which characters to include.
  3. Copy the password, or press Generate for a new one.
  4. Store it in a password manager.

What makes a password strong?

Length matters most. A random 16-character password or a five-word passphrase would take today's computers far longer than a lifetime to guess. Never reuse passwords: if one site is breached, attackers try the same password everywhere.

Store them safely

Use a password manager such as Bitwarden, 1Password, or the one built into your browser or phone, and turn on two-factor authentication for email and banking.

Questions

Frequently asked

Is this password generator safe?

Yes. Passwords are created locally with crypto.getRandomValues and are never sent, logged or saved. You can even use it offline.

How long should a password be?

At least 12–16 characters for most accounts, and 20+ for important ones like email and banking. Length matters more than complexity.

What is a passphrase?

A passphrase is several random words joined together, like “tidal-mango-orbit-candle”. It is easy to remember yet very hard to guess.

Is what I type sent to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
