Which barcode type should I use?
Code 128 is ideal for general use and supports letters. EAN-13 and UPC-A are used on retail products.
Can I get a barcode for selling products in stores?
Retail barcodes need a registered number from GS1. This tool draws the barcode once you have the number.
What is the check digit?
EAN and UPC codes end with a check digit calculated from the other digits. If you leave it out, it is added automatically.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
