Questions

Frequently asked

Why is my resolution lower than my monitor's?

Browsers report screen size in CSS pixels. On high-density screens (Retina, 4K laptops, phones) and when Windows scaling is above 100%, each CSS pixel covers several physical pixels. Physical pixels = screen resolution × device pixel ratio.

How is the refresh rate measured?

By counting how many frames the browser draws in a second. It usually matches your display (60, 120, 144 Hz…), but battery saving or a busy computer can show a lower number.

What's the difference between screen and viewport?

The screen is the whole display. The viewport is the part of the browser window the page uses, which is smaller because of tabs, toolbars and the taskbar.

Is what I type sent to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
