About the CGPA to Percentage
Many Indian universities and boards report results as a CGPA on a 10-point scale, but job and admission forms often ask for a percentage. This tool converts CGPA to percentage using the widely used 9.5 multiplier, converts back, supports a custom multiplier for your university, and averages semester SGPAs into a CGPA.
- Choose CGPA → %, % → CGPA or SGPA → CGPA.
- Enter your CGPA, percentage or the SGPA of each semester.
- Change the multiplier if your university uses a different formula.
Frequently asked
How do I convert CGPA to percentage?
The common formula (used by CBSE and many universities) is Percentage = CGPA × 9.5. A CGPA of 8.2 is about 77.9%.
Why 9.5?
CBSE found that the average percentage of students in a grade band was roughly 9.5 times the grade point. Some universities use their own formula, such as (CGPA − 0.75) × 10, so check your marksheet.
How is CGPA calculated from SGPA?
If all semesters have equal credits, CGPA is the average of the SGPAs. With different credits, each SGPA is weighted by its semester credits.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
