FD Calculator
Fixed deposit maturity & interest
Pre-tax figures. TDS may apply to FD interest.
About the FD Calculator
A fixed deposit (FD) earns a guaranteed interest rate for a fixed period. Most banks compound FD interest quarterly, which means you earn interest on your interest. This calculator shows your maturity amount and total interest for any deposit, rate, tenure and compounding frequency.
- Enter the deposit amount.
- Enter the annual interest rate offered by your bank.
- Enter the tenure in years and months.
- Pick how often interest is compounded (quarterly is most common).
Frequently asked
What formula is used for FD maturity?
Maturity = P × (1 + r/n)^(n × t), where P is the deposit, r the annual rate as a decimal, n the number of compounding periods per year and t the tenure in years.
Is FD interest taxable?
In most countries, yes. In India FD interest is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate, and banks may deduct TDS. This calculator shows pre-tax figures.
Which is better, monthly or quarterly compounding?
More frequent compounding gives a slightly higher maturity amount for the same rate. The difference is small, so compare the actual interest rates first.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
