How much should I tip?
Customs vary by country. In the US 15–20% is common in restaurants, while in many other countries 5–10% or rounding up is normal.
Is the tip calculated before or after tax?
Either is acceptable. Many people tip on the pre-tax amount. Enter whichever amount you prefer to tip on.
How is the bill split?
The bill plus tip is divided equally by the number of people. With rounding on, each share is rounded up, so the group may pay slightly more than the exact total.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
