Frequently asked
How do I calculate percentage increase?
Percentage change = (new − old) ÷ old × 100. From 80 to 100: (100 − 80) ÷ 80 × 100 = 25% increase.
How do I calculate a percentage decrease?
Use the same formula; the answer is negative. From 100 to 80: (80 − 100) ÷ 100 × 100 = −20%.
Why is a 20% fall followed by a 20% rise not back to the start?
Because the rise is calculated on the smaller number. 100 → 80 (−20%) → 96 (+20%).
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
