About the Worship Pads
A sustained ambient pad for worship teams, to play under prayer, readings, transitions and song intros. Tap a key and the pad fades in; tap another and it crossfades smoothly, so moving from a song in G to one in A is seamless. Root + 5th has no third, so it fits songs in major and minor keys. Choose a warm synth, shimmer (with octaves floating above), strings, a breathy air pad or a soft organ, and shape it with brightness, movement and reverb. Every sound is generated live in your browser, so nothing needs downloading, and you can save two minutes of any pad as a WAV for your playback software.
- Tap the key of your song. The pad fades in.
- Tap another key to crossfade to it, or the same key to fade out.
- Pick a sound and chord, and set brightness, movement, reverb and crossfade time.
- Optionally download a 2-minute WAV of the pad for tracks or Ableton.
Frequently asked
What are worship pads?
A soft, sustained synth sound held in the key of the song. Worship teams play pads to fill the silence between songs, under prayer and Scripture readings, and to make key changes and transitions smooth.
Which chord should I use?
Root + 5th leaves out the third, so the same pad works for major and minor songs, and it's what most pad loops use. Choose Major, Minor or Sus2 for a fuller colour when it matches the song.
How do I connect it to the sound desk?
Plug your phone, tablet or laptop headphone output into a DI box or a stereo channel on the mixer, start with the volume low and bring it up on the desk. Turn off notification sounds first.
Can I use the pads in our services and recordings?
Yes. The sounds are generated by this tool, so you can use them, and the WAV downloads, freely in services, livestreams and recordings.
Can I change key with the computer keyboard?
Yes. Press C, D, E, F, G, A or B, and hold Shift for the black key above (Shift + A is B♭). Space fades in or out.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
