About the Online Guitar

Strum real guitar sounds in your browser. Choose one of 17 common chords (C, G, D, Em, Am, F and more) and swipe across the strings on the guitar's body to strum, just like the real thing, or use the Strum buttons or the Space bar. Tap any fret to play single notes and melodies, and add a capo to change key. The chord shape lights up on the fretboard, so it's a handy way to learn chords too.

  1. Pick a chord (or press 1–9 and 0).
  2. Swipe across the strings on the body, press Strum, or press Space for a down-strum and ↑ for an up-strum.
  3. Tap the frets to play single notes; add a capo to play in a higher key.
Questions

Frequently asked

How do I strum on a phone?

Swipe up or down across the six strings on the guitar body. Each string plays as your finger crosses it, so fast swipes sound like a real strum. Turn your phone sideways for a bigger fretboard.

Which chords can I play?

C, G, D, Em, Am, F, A, E, Dm, Bm, F♯m, and the seventh chords E7, A7, D7, G7, B7 and C7, plus all open strings. Add a capo to move them up.

Does it sound like a real guitar?

Yes. Every note is a recorded nylon-string guitar sample, the same one our guitar tuner uses.

Is what I type sent to a server?

No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
