Frequently asked
How is RD interest calculated?
Each monthly deposit earns compound interest, added every quarter, for the time it stays in the account. The first deposit earns interest for the full tenure, the last one for just a month. The maturity amount is the sum of all of them.
What is the maturity of ₹5,000 a month for 5 years at 7%?
About ₹3,59,660: ₹3,00,000 deposited plus about ₹59,660 interest, with quarterly compounding.
Is RD interest taxable?
Yes. RD interest is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate, and banks deduct TDS if your interest across deposits is above the yearly limit.
Is what I type sent to a server?
No. The tool runs entirely in your browser and there's no server behind it, so what you type never leaves your device and nothing is stored. You can check: it keeps working if you go offline after the page has loaded.
